Intentionally losing identity enables us to find out new possibilities. This is a shop designed after Maison Martin Margiela’s anti-spiritual concept of ‘common sense is not common,’ in other words, ‘objects be not used the way they are supposed to be.’ Chairs, which are supposed to be sit, can be used as store fixtures. By altering materials, chairs can function as a mirror. Chair legs can transform into hooks for bags. Chairs’ identity as a chair that they are to be sit is thereby lost. This, as a result, enables us to discover new definitions of chairs’ existence. This shop is a place where consumers come to find an opportunity to discover their new self with a help from Maison Martin Margiela’s cloths.
